Apple Crisp Smoothie

by Carl Gillert

The old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” does have merit. Apples are rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and water-soluble dietary fiber. Leaving the skin on nearly doubles the amount of fiber. Apples are the perfect ingredient for a healthy and filling smoothie. There are over 100 different types of apples grown in the United States so go ahead and pick one and enjoy an Apple Crisp Smoothie after your morning run or as an afternoon snack!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 unpeeled apple cut and diced
  • 1 cup of non-fat milk or almond milk
  • 1/3 cup of low-fat or fat-free Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of instant or quick oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of Allspice
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 6 to 8 ice cubes
